COVID-19 PROCEDURE UPDATES

Updated: May 14, 2020

With current uncertainties with the coronavirus, we have made the difficult decision to continue to provide curbside service only.  Due to the size of our reception area and exam rooms, we can only allow staff and patients to enter our animal hospital.  We are opening our services to include wellness visits in addition to emergencies.

Please be patient as the process does take longer to keep everyone safe.

For service, please call 843-320-0001 before leaving your house.  This will allow us to take as much information about your pet as we can over the phone.  Calling us prior to leaving your house will let us know when to expect you and your pet.  Describe what type of car you are driving--especially the color.  Call when you arrive and our staff will come to your car for paperwork and to bring your pet inside.  Routine forms are included at the end of this website.

Staff has been instructed to NOT remove pets and/or carriers from your car.  Staff will bring a leash for you to place on your dog.  Get out of your car with your dog on a leash and hand the leash to the assistant.  If you have a carrier, get out of your car, remove the carrier from your car and place it on the ground next to your car.  The assistant will then step forward, exercising appropriate 6 foot social distancing, and carry the pet carrier into our hospital.  Please provide the staff with a working telephone number we can call you with updates and/or questions during your pets' visit.

If you choose to leave the parking lot, please sign a consent form and leave a deposit (amount to be determined by services provided).

If you are sick and/or running a temperature, do not bring your pet to the hospital, have someone else bring your pet.

Once your pets visit is complete, staff will call you with recommendations.  The receptionists will email an invoice for you to pay online with a credit card.  If you are unable to pay online, please let us know.  Other arrangements will be made such as collecting a check, cash or credit card from your car and bringing these into the building.

Your pet will be brought to your car with medications and an invoice showing payment and discharge instructions.  If you have any questions during this experience, don't hesitate to call.

We are offering telemedicine via Zoom for patients unable to come to the hospital during the Governor's State of Emergency.  The doctor will be able to collect history, do a limited exam, ask and answer questions and determine if the patient needs to come to the hospital for testing. If testing isn’t required or if it is declined, medications can be prescribed via our online store if needed.

For telemedicine scheduling, you can call our office during business hours, 8:30-5pm M-F, or visit Calendly.com/sandhillsvet. We hope to have a quick button/link/widget on our webpage and Facebook page soon.

If you need a medication refill, you can visit our online store at sandhillsvet.com for direct shipping and payment or call the hospital during office hours. If picking up medication from our office, please call ahead.  Payment can be taken via an emailed invoice online.  We will call you when the medication is ready for pick up. Stay in your car when you arrive and call the office at 843-320-0001. Your receipt will be placed in the bag with your medication.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. The safety and well-being of our employees, clients and patients remain the most important factors to us, and we do not make these decisions lightly.  We hope all our clients stay safe and stay home during these difficult and unprecedented times.
